Our Story

It’s in the DNA

Our textile history dates back to our family’s cotton farms in South Asia, proceeded by our grandparent’s migration to Yorkshire to join the textile industry in the 1900’s, meaning fabric is in our DNA.

With our passion, experience and dedication we have founded inloom fabrics to deliver high performance contract furnishing fabrics for the commercial sector.

Quality and Choice matters

Partnering exclusively with leading European textile mills we offer over a thousand stock colourways which have a proven track record in quality & performance with leading European & North American seating manufactures.

With a combination of in-depth product knowledge and 36 years industry experience our team are able to consult with UK designers, dealers, seating and acoustic panel manufactures. Delivering a range of fabrics with quality and choice in mind direct from our warehouse facilities in Yorkshire.

A rich heritage in textiles is shared by one of our key European partners, Fidivi, and the Vergnano family who founded the company in 1941, and to this date still own and run it. Hence inloom are delighted to have exclusivity of the Fidivi fabric ranges for the UK

Meet The Team

Abdul Ali – Director

Leaving full-time education at the age of 16 Abdul entered the contract furnishing market on the government sponsored Youth Training Scheme (YTS). Joining Camborne Fabrics on a six-month trial in their warehouse, which he not only completed successfully, but went on to complete 36 years with the same company as it evolved through its various brand name changes.

In the early years Abdul took on various roles including production, quality, marketing to eventually discover his vocation in life was sales. Spending 25 years building sales & client relationships covering the APAC, MEA, Europe and in particular the UK market where Abdul now describes many of those clients as personal friends.

Following a management buyout in 2006 Abdul became a shareholder and part of the management team that grew the business from £36m to £100m sales.

Having taken a year out of the industry to take a well-earned break and spend some time on his hobbies (in particular upcycling furniture), Abdul has been enticed by those same customers and the next generation of the Ali family who share the same passion for textiles to create Inloom Fabrics.

Zohaib Ali – Sales Director

With his father serving the industry for 36 years it is not surprising Zohaib followed in his footsteps. Growing up seeing fabric samples and swatch cards all over the house led to Zohaib developing a keen interest in upholstery and the contract furniture market. Although initially going in a completely different direction, Zohaib obtained a Law Degree and went on to complete the Legal Practice Course. It was then an opportunity arose for a sales role with a contract furniture manufacturer. At first having the intention to return to Law, it quickly became apparent that there was no leaving the industry once you are in it!

Zohaib spent three and a half years working for a contract furniture market building his experience in furniture sales and developing some close relationships within the dealer market and even went on to join one of them for his next role. It was here that Zohaib spent three years building on his furniture knowledge in a role as a furniture consultant, for a design-led furniture dealer, advising Architects and Designers working on a range of projects to provide furniture.

Zohaib now looks forward to the next chapter in his career in creating Inloom Fabrics and revisiting the dealer market and the Architects and Designers that he has built such close relationships with, and furthering the family tradition in the textile industry.
